The World Of Jadeey

A very non-productive Saturday

Saturday, July 18, 2009
As is often the case on my weekends, I didn't do half the things I was supposed to do today. I did go to the gym, so that's a plus. But I didn't do a whole lot of other things i'd planned to do. The problem is I always want to spend my weekends in a state of total relaxation. This often means I avoid the things I should be doing.

Luckily there's always tomorrow.

Last night I went to Kayla and Josh's for dinner. Aimee came along too, which was super awesome because I haven't seen her in ages. Kayla cooked us a delicious dinner, we talked to Malakai, we played Harry Potter Scene It (I won) and we chatted about anything and everything. It was a really great night.

Tomorrow night I'm going to see Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince. I'm in a state of fear about it. I adore the book, it's probably my favourite of the lot, and I'm not looking forward to watching it be butchered. I understand that the film makers can't put everything in, but it still disappoints me when things that I considered important are left out. Not to mention I've heard they completely ruin the last scene, and that just happens to be one of my absolute favourite scenes of the books.

One day, somehow, I will learn not to get my hopes up about movie adaptations of books.

A great night out

Saturday, May 09, 2009
Last night I went out with Antz and Lynn. We used to hang out all the time a few years ago, but we've been pretty slack over the last few years. So last night we decided to rectify that and have a night out just the three of us.

It started at Fujiyama Tepenyaki - the restaurant we used to eat at far too often for our own good. We then moved on to visit another friend for a little while and then to Lynn's house for some Rock Band.

It really did feel like old times. And we made a pretty damn good band - me on guitar, Antz on drums and Lynn singing. We could totally get a record deal.

Kat's coming to Wellington

Wednesday, April 29, 2009
KAT WILL BE IN WELLINGTON TOMORROW! WOO!!!

I'm very excited that Kat is coming down. It's sort of a surprise visit because it's for work so wasn't confirmed until last week. But it's happening and she's staying until Sunday so clearly the world is made of awesome right now.

It's hard to lose a friend

Wednesday, December 17, 2008
Some friendships end, that's a fact of life. Not every ending is because of a horrible fight. Sometimes people just drift apart. Even worse, sometimes just one person drifts while the other tries desperately to hold on. With the fight you have the anger to fuel you, to make you feel that maybe it's a good thing the friendship ended because why would you want to be friends with that person anyway. When you start drifting apart from someone sometimes you desperately want to hold on but it just doesn't work and there is nothing you can do to change the course you are on. Those are the ones that hurt like buggary.

It just sucks to know that who you are is not enough for someone anymore - someone who used to love you and that you thought you'd be friends with forever. To know they no longer want to spend time with you and only force themselves to talk to you through loyalty for what you once had - well that's one of the worst feelings in the world. To try so hard to be someone they want to be friends with and still fail makes you feel worthless. All in all it's a pretty soul destroying situation.

As anyone who reads this blog regualarly knows, I like to read various websites where people write their secrets. So many of them are about lost friendships. It definitely happens a lot - but knowing other people are going through the same thing never helps, does it? I hope that some of those friendships are restored this Christmas. Getting a friend back would definitely be a wonderful Christmas present.

Even though it's not the day I normally post secrets, here are some that fit what I've just been talking about. Anyone out there who happens to be reading this and going through this situation - I know it doesn't really help, but you are not alone. These secrets can attest to that.

Who likes coke warm?

Sunday, November 30, 2008
My flatmate, Derek, loves coke. That's not so strange. The weird part is that he loves his coke flat. And warm. In fact, he won't drink it out of the fridge. That's weird right?

Sometimes, for some unknown reason, it drives me totally insane that he drinks it that way. It makes no sense that it'd worry me and it really shouldn't. Yet sometimes, just very occassionally, it does.

Tomorrow night is the monthly quiz night. I won't be going because my aunt has had an emergency and I need to look after my cousin. I think it was our month to come first too. Heh they probably still will since I barely answer any questions! :P

Hannah again... And a kitten with 2 faces

Wednesday, November 26, 2008
I can't decide what to blog about today so Hannah suggested I blog about her. I'm not really sure what she wants me to write about her though...

Here are some facts about Hannah:

1. She's here right now picking some DVDs
2. She had an exam today
3. She loves Fallout Boy
4. She is awesome
5. We're going to have a DVD night soon because we haven't had one for ages

Well, that was interesting.

And now, here is a photo of a kitten with two faces. I think it's cute. It also makes me sad, I really hope it survives. And that it never realises it's a mutant.

I love me some ex-cricket captain

Saturday, November 01, 2008
I got so excited last night when I arrived at the bar I was meeting my friends at. Why? Because we were sitting near a guy who looked very much like Stephen Fleming from the side. And, luckily, because of where our seats were positioned I pretty much saw him from the side the whole time. I knew it wasn't him, but it still made me happy. From the front, not so much like Stephen.

Today has been an assignment day and tomorrow will be as well. It's not so bad though, the assignment I'm doing is actually kind of fun. We have to invent a publishing house and then produce a whole lot of documents as if we were going to print a book. Stuff like project timelines, costings etc. I'm really enjoying it. Interestingly, it's a project management assignment and I recently got it into my head that I'd like to be a project manager. I then got rejected for a project management job I wanted and decided I didn't want to do it afterall. Now, doing this assignment, I'm back to thinking maybe I would like to do it. It's confusing being Holly. :P

Ingrid told me today that she actually told me about the Medieval Store a few weeks ago and commented that she wonders how it stays in business. I have no recollection of the conversation, but I have been thinking about it for weeks so it was obviously because of the conversation with her. The funny thing is I have this memory of the first time I noticed the store. Yet, either that memory or Ingrid's one is false. I'm going with probably mine since I'm sure you are more likely to create a false memory of thoughts than one of talking to someone.

Birthdays

Tuesday, October 28, 2008
Today it is two of my friends' birthdays. Sam and Shukul. Neither live in New Zealand at the moment though, so both only get Facebook messages. Ah well.

Today was another round of applying for jobs. And I've got another couple to apply for tomorrow. Rather sick of job-hunting. But excited at the thought of actually getting one soon. Starting new jobs is pretty cool. It's nerve-wracking of course, but it's also exciting cos everything and everyone is new. Change is a good thing. (Or so I keep telling myself.)

Ingrid's birthday

Saturday, September 20, 2008
Today was Ingrid's birthday. I bought her Tom Hanks' very old tv show on dvd. He dresses up as a woman, it's a little bit scary.

A big group of us went to dinner at Fujiyama Tepenyaki to celebrate both Ingrid's and Kat's birthdays. It was really cool. I am soooo full right now.

Happy Birthday Kat!

Monday, September 15, 2008
Today is Kat's birthday. And she's coming to visit on the weekend!! YAY!

Being an Office obsessed nut, and also incapable of singing myself (well incapable of singing in tune), I decided to let the cast of The Office sing her happy birthday for me. So I found a clip of them singing happy birthday and I found a clip of Michael saying Kat (actually he was saying meerkat) and I edited them together.

Here is the result (well, with a picture added so it's a real video and could actually be uploaded to youtube). I know it's silly, but Kat appreciated it and that is what counts. :D

Maybe relationships don't suck after all

Monday, October 23, 2006

This is my favourite couple in the world. (excluding my parents, who take the title) These two make me believe in true love and make me confident that one day I'll find someone who makes me as happy as they make each other. My parents too actually, even after 28 years together they make each other so happy and really love spending time together.

I hope I find this someday, I really do.

This is the photo we got framed for Phoenix's birthday (he's the white guy, the Samoan guy is my best mate). He loved it. (Thank God!)

The party was nice. I was gutted (as was SpaceMonkey) that the hottest guys there were gay. We were both checking this one guy out and then his partner arrived. His partner was equally cute. So, while we were disappointed that hot guy number 1 was taken at least we had a second hot guy to admire! See, there's always a silver lining!

Woah...

Friday, November 18, 2005
Just spoke to a friend of mine. He's in big trouble with the police. His ex has accused him of stalking her and the police have got involved. Now, I know him and know it is not true. But I also know he texts her and emails her a lot. When they broke up they agreed to stay friends but then she got angry at him due to a misunderstanding and he has been trying to get her to realise he didn't do what she thought he did.

He's messed up and that scares me. He's always been a little messed up anyway, gets depressed very easily. I'm really worried this is going to be too much for him and that he'll do something stupid.

I've tried talking to him but can't give him what he needs right now. We're not as close as we used to be and I'm just not sure how to help him. I hope he's okay.

The worst thing? He's still defending her and doesn't blame her for the fact that he's now in trouble with the police. It makes me cringe in despair, mostly cos I know i'd do the same for certain people.
